Plymouth Firm Selected as Vikings Stadium Subcontractor

MFRA, Inc., a Plymouth based civil engineering consulting firm, will support stadium architect HKS Sports & Entertainment.

Plymouth-based MFRA, Inc. will be among the 18 Minnesota subcontractors participating in the construction of the new Vikings Stadium.

The firm, headquartered at 14800 28th Avenue North, is under contract with HKS/EVS to design the grading as part of the Civil Engineering Services Contract for Vikings Stadium, according to MFRA President and CEO Sirish Samba.

“We are excited about the opportunity and look forward to bringing an incredible game day experience for the Vikings fans and stakeholders” said Samba said.

The Plymouth engineering consulting firm also designed the Twin Cities largest life style centers including Arbor Lakes in Maple Grove and West End in St. Louis Park, Samba said.

In May 2012, the Minnesota Legislature and the Minneapolis City Council approved funding for the new $975 million multi-purpose stadium to replace the Metrodome. The new stadium is scheduled to open in time for the 2016 NFL season.

The Minnesota Sports Facilities Authority (MSFA), which currently owns the Metrodome, will own and operate the new stadium. MSFA, which is also responsible for the design and construction of the new stadium, announced the subcontractor selections Jan. 18.
