Snowmaking Begins at Elm Creek Park Reserve

The Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area expects, weather permitting, to open sometime mid-December 2012.

Three Rivers Park District is now conducting full snowmaking operations at the Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Maple Grove as well as Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area in Bloomington.

Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area expects, weather permitting, to open sometime mid-December and HSSA anticipates opening Thursday, Nov. 29.

Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area is not only making snow for downhill skiing and snowboarding, but for 2.5K of cross-country skiing and for snow tubing as well. Check out this video highlighting snowmaking operations at Elm Creek Winter Recreation Area.

Hyland Ski & Snowboard Area has upgraded its snowmaking capabilities this year, including installing 2,000 feet of new underground water pipe to maximize snowmaking ability and four new tower-mounted snow guns that were installed on the south side of the small terrain park.

Hours, rates, lessons and more can be found on the Three Rivers Park District website.
