VISIONS FOR VACANCY: Marcello's, Four Seasons Mall
Many were sad to see Marcello's Pizza close in the Four Seasons Mall, so now what should happen with the site?
Plymouth landmark Marcello's Pizza & Pasta closed its doors Feb. 29.
Now only one business remains in the Four Seasons Mall property owned by Wal-Mart.
The mall, located on the southwest quadrant of County Road 9 and Highway 169, sits on 21 acres in Plymouth and has been around since the late 1970s.
The largely vacant site has had a moratorum put on it that prevented any new development to allow the city to conduct its planning, but that has been lifted.
What would you want to see fill this area? What do you definitely not want to see?

No Walmart, a combined residental and small business, there is enough Mega business in the area. Why doesn't Walmart take the old K mart site, perfect for a redo?
We need wise use of land, even some parks and greenspaces. Once it is concrete and asphalt it never changes, it just evolves into some other hard surface. I'm not a hardcore environmentalist, we just need to wise stewards of the land. Dave

I love the idea of mixed use that includes senior residential (independent or assisted or memory or combination of) and businesses. I'd like to see a popular fast-casual restaurant like Panera's and maybe an ice cream shop with an attractive court and green space that would appeal to families. Now if only it could be done soon enough to offer Marcello's a home back in the neighborhood!

A kids entertainment place like Chuck E. Cheese. how about a skate place. ice cream shop is a good idea too. I also like the comment about wal Mart where the old Kmart is. Four Seasons mall hasn't been the same since Coopers Super Valu . shout out to all my old Coopers peeps. miss you Dani.

How about a Feed and Read-Novelty meals and Book store. This would of course include specialty beverages. Panera type restaurant which would attract all ages-probably more college aged students from North Hennepin Technical.

I live 3/4 miles away; grew up 4 houses up from 4 Seasons on Zachary. I'd hate to see a Walmart there. Walmart would fit perfectly in the old KMart space! The neighborhood infrastructure could not and should not support the traffic demands alone of what a Walmart would necessitate. Can you imagine what Zachary Lane would look like if Walmart were at it's apex? It would be a lesser Co. Rd 9!
Something like Edina's 50th & France area would be spectacular!...Residential areas above mixed store fronts, free, time sensitive parking garages, nearby "retirement" communities, destination restaurants...etc. Granted it could never be as "high end" as the model Edina has offered, the area cant support it, but the concept is spot on. Bring in a Panera, a Williams Sinoma, a second-hand store...whatever fits the mold of the current and future geoeconomical needs of the area should take president.
I'm proud of my community! I love Plymouth. I was sad when Fosters left (I still miss their beef jerkey) and I can say my house will be on the market if a Wamart is developed there.
