Erik Paulsen: I Won't Run for Al Franken's U.S. Senate Seat or MN Governor in 2014

The congressman from Minnesota's Third District ruled out running for anything other than re-election.

U.S. Sen. Erik Paulsen (R-MN) said in a statement Monday that he will not run for another office than the one he holds in 2014. Mark Dayton, both DFL Party members up for re-election that year: "After thinking carefully about how I can best help my fellow Minnesotans, I have decided to not seek election for a different office in 2014. If the people of the Third Congressional District will allow me, I hope to continue my work in the U.S. House of Representatives, where I can be most effective, in the years ahead. The warm encouragement from many people to run for U.S. senator or the governorship was deeply humbling. …

Jeff Johnson Announces He's Running for MN Governor

The Hennepin County Commissioner from Plymouth also served three terms in the Minnesota House and lost a statewide race for attorney general in 2006.

The guessing game is over: Hennepin County Commissioner Jeff Johnson is running for governor, the Republican announced Sunday. KSTP reported on his announcement: Johnson, who is also a former three-term state representative will focus on three issues if elected: jobs, education and making government work. “Minnesota is the greatest place to live in America,” Johnson said. “But under the people in charge of our state government right now, we are heading in the wrong direction. If we do not correct our course—soon—I am afraid that the greatness of Minnesota is in serious jeopardy. I am running for governor because I want to leave our state an even better place to live for our kids—and their kids—than our parents left for all of us.” The …

Letter: Audrey Britton Thanks Plymouth Community

Britton ran for State Rep. District 44A (DFL) and want to thank Plymouth neighbors, Britton team and supporters.

To the Editor: Thank you to the people of Plymouth's House District 44A for voting. Our democracy depends on public participation in government and, once again, Plymouth had a very impressive turnout at 87 percent. Thank you to my team who made this campaign possible. Together we visited every home in the district, whether Republican, Independent, Democrat or not party affiliated at all, because our campaign was about the people and public service, not political parties. There wasn't a door we walked by, a conversation we wouldn't hold nor a question we wouldn't directly answer.   Because of a great team, we made hundreds of phone calls, wrote letters, addressed thousands of envelopes and cards, dropped literature at doors, carefully …
