Children's Programs in Three Rivers Park District for November

Several parks in the north metro have kid-friendly programs Nov. 11-14, 2012, including turkey and nature related activities. Preregistration is required.

My Preschooler & Me: Nature Discoveries — I’m a Turkey!

Sunday, Nov. 11, from 2:30-4 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Explore nature with your preschooler as you both participate in hands-on discoveries. Listen to the book “I’m a Turkey,” by Jim Arnosky. Examine turkey artifacts, hike in search of wild turkeys, and put out some corn. Design a turkey art project, play turkey games, and dance the turkey pokey. Cost is $5 and reservations are required. Call 763-559-6700 to make a reservation and reference activity number #412203-12. Preschool Drop-off: Kits & Cubs — Nature’s Camouflage

Monday, Nov. 12, from 10 a.m.-noon, or 1-3 p.m., at Eastman Nature Center, in Elm Creek Park Reserve, Dayton. Drop off the kids for a day of sneaky camouflage. Learn how animals use their colors to hide from predators. Search for hidden animals on the trail, read a camouflage story, make an animal project, and have a snack. Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., or 1-3 p.m., at Silverwood Park, St. Anthony. Each week’s activities are based on a different children’s book with a nature-inspired art theme. Part of every class will be exploring what autumn brings to the wetlands, woods and prairies; then get messy cutting, pasting, painting, or sculpting. Dress for the weather and bring a light snack, water bottle, and a bag to keep all your projects together. Cost is $10 and reservations are required. Me, My Baby & the Mississippi: Turkey Time

Thursday, Nov. 15, from 10-11 a.m., at Kroening Interpretive Center, in North Mississippi Regional Park, Brooklyn Center. Search for bugs beneath the leaves, paint with feathers, and help “cook” turkey pie. Cost is $5 and reservations are required. Preschool Drop Off: Lil’ Farmhands

Tuesday, Nov. 13, from 9:30-11:30 a.m., at Gale Woods Farm, Minnetrista. Drop off your preschooler to dig right into the day-to-day life of the farm. Every day your child will lend a hand with farm chores and prepare a fresh snack. Program activities will focus on “The Farm’s Bounty” for the first three weeks, and “The Harvest is Done, Now Comes the Fun!” for the second three weeks. Preschool Drop-off: Outdoor Kids Club — I Can Letterbox!

Wednesday, Nov. 14, from 1-3 p.m., at French Regional Park, Plymouth. Take part in an outdoor scavenger hunt called letterboxing. Follow clues that lead to a special stamp hidden in the park.
