Worried About Your Morning Commute?

Chance of freezing rain Friday morning in the metro. Check our traffic map for updates on major roadways.

The National Weather Service has issued a hazardous weather alert for light freezing drizzle and fog happening for the early part of Friday that could affect the morning commute.

The drizzle and fog were expected to develop after midnight and into the wee hours of Friday morning. NWS says the results could mean a think layer of icing on roadways especially on untreated roads including bridge decks, sidewalks and other such surfaces.

The evening commute on 494 was rough Wednesday night with a two-car accident slowing things down around 6 p.m. and Thursday morning there were at least two accidents, including a police squad car getting hit by another vehicle on 494 as well.

Plan on extra drive time for your Friday morning commute and go slower than usual, testing spots that could have ice formed more than others like ramps and bridges.
