Plymouth-Based Developer Breaks Ground to Renovate Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul

The $123 million project by developer Dominium will transform the brewery to Schmidt Artist Lofts, reports the Star Tribune.

Plymouth-based business Dominium reportedly broke group at the end of January on the site of Schmidt Artist Lofts in St. Paul, according to a Star Tribune report.

The developer will be converting the Schmidt Brewery in to 247 rental lofts and add 13 townhouses near the bottle house.

Dominium bought Schmidt Brewery main brewery in 2011 for $6.2 million, according to a Star Tribune report, and will spend approximately $123 million on the conversion project.

The project is anticipated to be completed in 2014.

Beer has not been brewed at the Schmidt Brewery in St. Paul since 2002, according to the Minneapolis/St. Paul Business Journal.
