Opportunity for Plymouth Residents to 'Step' Forward to a Fitness Challenge

As a kickoff to the Step To It Challenge, residents are encouraged to join Mayor Kelli Slavik for the annual "Walk with the Mayor" event.

Plymouth residents will have the opportunity to compete in Hennepin County’s fun, four week fitness competition, “Step To It Challenge” which pits Plymouth against 23 other northwest suburbs.

The challenge is a fun, lighted-hearted way to connect with family, friends and neighbors and get moving again after a long winter. Twenty-three cities will compete to see which one has the most active residents. Free Twins tickets will go to individuals who log the most steps for each city. The “Step To It Challenge” registration begins April 1 and will run from May 1 through May 28.  The “Step to It Challenge” is coordinated and administered by the Hennepin County Human Services and Public Health Department.

The challenge has participants track their daily activity using a pedometer or conversion chart on the Step To It website (www.steptoit.org). Virtually every action counts: walking, biking, running, cleaning, gardening or playing with the kids.
