Former Aeronautical Engineer Passes Away at 86

A memorial was held in Plymouth Aug. 10.

Plymouth resident David G. DeCoursin passed away at the age of 86.

David is survived by his three daughters, Barb (Patrick) Schneider, Diane (Curt) Major and Joan (Jim Molnar) Humes, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He was a WWII Navy veteran, serving in the Philippines, a graduate of the University of Wisconsin/Madison and the University of Minnesota.  He spent a long and satisfying career as an aeronautical engineer.  He was happiest when he was productive, whether it was having breakfast with another project engineer and working through some technical problem, consulting with any one of his family on the latest home repair issue, or trying out a new tool in his wood shop.   A lover of books, he would read his children’s and grandchildren’s school textbooks for pleasure.

David will be missed by his family for his unconditional love, his engineering colleagues for his brilliant mind, and his many friends for his wit and wisdom.  Special thanks to David's Lifesprk caregivers, especially Link Thomas, for helping Dad enjoy his last year of breakfasts at the Pancake House, cigars on the porch, and many long discussions of the topics of the day. “When its twilight on the trail, and my voice is still, please plant this heart of mine underneath the lonesome pine on the hill.”  We love you Dad and Grandpa and Great-Grandpa.

Memorials preferred to Urban Boatbuilders, 449 N. Pascal St., St. Paul, MN, 55104, in honor of Dad's great love of boats and boat-building.
