Plymouth 'Teacher, Traveler, Poet' Passes Away at Age 71

Funeral service is 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Church of St. Bartholomew 630 East Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata.

Stephen Muras, 71, of Plymouth passed away Sept. 8, 2013. 

“Teacher, traveler and poet,” Muraas was also husband, father, Bompa and a foster parent. He taught at Gatewood Elementary School in Hopkins for 40 years, was a past President of the Hopkins Education Association, a Navy Vietnam veteran, man of God and Promise Keeper. 

He is preceded in death by parents, George and Charlotte Muras; and father-in-law, Forest Strnad.  He was born June 6, 1942.

Muras is survived by beloved wife of 43 years, Linda; children, Christopher, Eric, Sarah and Jennifer; grandchildren, Tally, Kenna, Colie and Braeden; many other family and friends. 

Interment is at Fort Snelling National Cemetery.

Memorials are preferred.

Visitation 5-7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 12, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Gearty Delmore Plymouth Chapel, 15800 37th Ave. N. in Plymouth.

Funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 13, at the Church of St. Bartholomew
630 East Wayzata Blvd in Wayzata with a visitation one our prior to service.
