U.S. Air Force Band Member Who Played For Presidents Passes Away At Age 76

The Plymouth man's memorial service is Saturday, Sept. 28, at Wayzata Community Church.

Richard A. "Dick" Reed Jr., 76, of Plymouth passed away Aug. 4, 2013, after battling with cancer, according to an obituary in the Observer.

Formerly of Dunkirk, N.Y., he graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1955 where he played the trombone for the school band and went on to play for the local drum and bugle corps. He served in the U.S. Air Force for more than 20 years and played in the Air Force Band in which he played for all the U.S. presidents during that time.

A memorial service for Reed is slated for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 28, at the Wayzata Community Church in Wayzata with a reception to follow. Memorials can be made to the Wayzata Community Church Deacon's Fund or Interfaith Outreach and Community Partners.

Internment at Fort Snelling was held earlier in August, according to the online obituary.
