Motorcyclist Was Wearing A Helmet in Plymouth Accident

A Minnetonka man died in an accident around 4 p.m. April 4 off Hwy 169 at Bass Lake Road in Plymouth and included a Plymouth man in the other vehicle.

According to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner's Office, a Minnetonka man died in a motorcycle-vehicle accident April 4 in Plymouth. He was wearing his helmet.

At about 4:05 p.m. Gene Kokesh, 58, of Minnetonka was on his Yamaha motorcycle exiting southbound Highway 169 at westbound Bass Lake Road at the border of Plymouth and New Hope when he lost control of the bike.

According to the Minnesota State Patrol, Kokesh went across the westbound lanes, jumped the median divider and got thrown from his motorcycle.

Kokesh and his bike collided with another vehicle. The driver of the second vehicle was Luke Midura, 32, of Plymouth, who was driving in a Chevy Silverado and had no apparent injuries. Midura was on the eastbound side of Bass Lake Road, reported the State Patrol. The vehicle was pulling a trailer.

The incident was described as a broadside one, in clear, dry conditions, with no hazardous materials involved.
