More Than 400 Participated in Plymouth Fire's Run/Walk Sept. 24

More than 500 people include 100 children participated in the Plymouth Fire Department's annual 5K Run/Walk and Kids' Fun Run during a sunny, crisp morning in Plymouth Sept. 24.

The weather proved fruitful for the annual Plymouth Fire Department's 5K Run/Walk Sept. 24.

With around 400 adult participants for the event, 79 from different communites including different states like New Jersey and California, the event also grew with more than 100 youth participating in the Kids' Fun Run.

Firefighters from 11 departments joined their colleagues on the Plymouth Fire Department for the run. The first one to cross the finish line was Plymouth Firefighter Mark Friske.

Here are top runners from this year's running event:

• In the men's division:Peter Kessler of New Hope finished first with a time of 17 minutes, 48 seconds; Scott Davis of Maple Grove came in second at 18 minutes, six seconds; and Brian Maas of Plymouth placed third again this year at 18 minutes, 41 seconds, which beats his 2010 time by 7 seconds and his 2009 time by 52 seconds.

• In the women’s division there were close victories this year with a mother-daughter combination taking first and second place: Kathleen Miller of Plymouth took first with 20 minutes, 47 seconds and her daughter, Kristine Keller-Miller came in second with a time of 22 minutes, 11 seconds; and Kelly Schwandt of Plymouth took third at 22 minutes, 17 seconds.  

of Plymouth and the Medicine Lake Run Group, along with 43 sponsoring businesses and 68 volunteers helped make the community event a success.
