Morning Commute Includes Accidents on 494 in Plymouth

At least two crashes snarled traffic this morning on 494 in Plymouth. One including a driver hitting a deer and the other a driver hit a police squad car. More information to come.

Less than 24 hours after a two-car accident piled up traffic on 494 in Plymouth, more accidents happened this morning on the Interstate.

Around 5:50 p.m. last night a rollover happened on northbound 494 that included two vehicles, three people and only minor injuries.

This morning around 5 a.m. a driver hit a deer on 494 and about 90 minutes later another colission occured, according to the Star Tribune

Lt. Eric Roeske with the State Patrol said the accident was at 494 and near the Bass Lake Road exit.

According to the Plymouth Police Department, one driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries and a Plymouth Police squad car was hit while assisting the State Patrol on the crash.

Luckily, no officer was not in the squad car when it was struck.The striking vehicle hit the back right corner of the rear bumper of the squad.  There were no injuries and only moderate damage to both vehicles. 

Traffic was backed up to the Fish Lake interchange in Maple Grove for about an hour and lanes that were closed for clearing the accidents and debris were reopened around 7:30 a.m., reports other media
