Safety Alert: Remove Garage Door Opener from Car

Plymouth police have issued a safety alert, reminding residents not to keep garage door openers in their vehicle.

This is the notice posted on the City of Plymouth website:

Your garage door opener is the front door key to your home. To prevent residential burglary, remove garage door openers from vehicles parked in driveways, valet parked cars and cars parked in ramps or lots.

Recently, a burglar gained access to a residential garage in Plymouth, using a garage door opener taken from a vehicle parked in the driveway. The burglar stole a laptop computer and beer.
