Local Legislative Candidates File For Elections

Elections are shaping up as candidates file for office in the area.

The deadline for candidates to file for 2012 legislative seats was June 5.

You can search for your local legislative candidates at the Secreatry of State website as well as see the map of the compiled filings on MinnPost. (Colors on the map represent the political leaning of the district based on past elections.)

The following is a list of some of the local area candidates for local districts. Links to candidate websites, that were available, are also provided.

In the District 44 Senate race:

In the District 45A State Representative race:

In the District 46 Senate race:

In the District 33 Senate race:

In the District 33A State Representative race:

Candidates wanting to run for local city council, school board and other local elections have a later filing timeline of July 31 through 5 p.m. Aug. 14. The deadline to withdraw a filing is Aug. 16.

City Council seats that will be open include wards 1, 2 and 3 and the at-large position. All seats are four-year terms except Ward 2 which is only two years since current Ward 2 Councilmember is finishing out former Ward 2 Councilmember 's term this year.

Judy Johnson is the current Ward 1 council member and Bob Stein is the current Ward 3 council member.

General Election day is Tuesday, Nov. 6.
