Fifteen students from Robbinsdale Armstrong High School were among the 100 youth from Twin Cities high schools who joined educators, education policy experts, and concerned community members on Nov. 13 to share ideas for closing the education gap in their schools.
The event, “Missing Voices: Equity in Education,” was held on the Minneapolis campus of Saint Mary’s University.
“Today we had an opportunity to come together, both educators and youth, to genuinely engage in dialogue about making our schools more equitable,” said Alissa Case, director of the culturally responsive teaching program at Saint Mary’s. “It was a powerful day; my hope is that we are able to sustain the energy and hope generated in order to do the intentional work that our students deserve.”
