Back to School: Open Houses For Wayzata Middle Schools, High School

t's that time of year again. Time to check out your school and classroom before the big first day of school. The first day of school for the Wayzata School District is Tuesday, Sept. 4.

Three middle schools and one high school in the Wayzata School District have numerous back to school events and activities happening this month. The following is a list of these events grouped by school:

: Orientation for all students and their families is 6 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29. Students will receive schedules, lockers, meet their teachers and have their pictures taken. Activities will be throughout the entire building.

: locker move-in week is 3 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 22, and Thursday, Aug. 23, and 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24. You can drop off your completed family packet(s). An relaxed and fun ice cream social is 7 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 23, and 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 29, is parents-only curriculum night, with sixth grade first then seventh and eighth grade presentations from 8 to 8:45 p.m.

: Students can move into their lockers, receive their schedules, turn in forms and pay fees for the upcoming school year during the locker move-in 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 16. Also Lifetouch pictures will be taken. If you miss that locker move-in 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, and 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23. The sixth grade and new student orientation is 8:20 to 10:20 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 30. This event is for sixth graders and any new to East. Buses bring students to and from school. Sixth graders have a mini-day, meet teachers and access their lockers. New seventh and eighth graders tour the building and access their lockers.

: parent orientation 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 28, for parents only. Important policy and procedure information will be reviewed as well as time for questions. Tours of the high school will also be available at 6:30 pm. Student orientation is 7:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Aug. 30. Students will meet their advisor and Link Leader and have an opportunity to “walk through” their schedule. Bus transportation will be provided for this event; bus information will be mailed to your home mid-August. Buses for orientation day will be the same as the regular school year routes.
