Local Businesses, Nonprofits Team with Cooper Students to Celebrate MLK Day

Find out how Cooper High School students will leave a mark on Martin Luther King, Jr. Day.

Beginning at 7:30 a.m., students from Robbinsdale Cooper High School will begin a day of service learning in honor of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.

According to a statement from Robbinsdale Area Schools, employees from Honeywell helped Cooper students plan the day.

The students involved are part of Students in Action, a Jefferson Awards initiative that empowers high school students to grow volunteerism in their school.

Their goal on Monday is to “leave a mark,” and they’ll do so by listening to a seminar on bullying in conjunction with Second Harvest Heartland, listening to guest speakers including New Hope Mayor Kathi Hemken, and packing sandwiches for Simpson’s Housing Service, a shelter in Minneapolis.
