Wayzata H.S. Stage Alive With The Sound of Music

Two casts will alternate performances on the Wayzata HIgh School stage for the production.

The Wayzata High School Players present the musical, "The Sound of Music," this week on the Wayzata High School stage.

The unique part of this year's fall musical is that it has two sets of casts alternating performances on different nights, which presents a unique challenge for family and loved ones getting tickets to see the players. The two sets of casts are just for the lead role of Maria Von Trapp and the Von Trapp children.

The casts alternate each night. Each performance is at 7:30 p.m. except the very last performance which begins at 2 p.m.

The cast members for today's performance as well as Saturday, Nov. 10 and Friday, Nov. 16 includes: Bridget McNiff, Annika Isbell, Thomas Smith, Julia Bassett, Bobby Isbell, Julia Hoover, Ruby Brisco, Erin McMaster and Caleb Zarns.

The cast members for Maria and the children for Friday, Nov. 9, Thursday, Nov. 15 and Saturday, Nov. 17 include: Bridget Sperry, Mara Halvorson, Adam Hebeisen, Gina Carter, Ian Hebeisen, Elizabeth Page, Carinn Tyron, Shaelyn Sale and Guy Guenthner.

The musical features actors ranging in age from 5-18 from all schools in the district making it a truly a community-wide production.

The musical tells the story of Maria and the Trapp Family. It moves from Maria's postulant days at Nonneberg Abbey, to her days with the Trapp children, and the terror of the Nazi Annexation of Austria.

Popular songs from the musical include "Do-Re-Mi," "Edelweiss" and "The Sound of Music." The music is by Richard Rogers and lyrics written by Oscar Hammerstein. The stage production was written by Howard Lindsay and Richard Crouse, and is based on the book "The Trapp Family Singers" by Maria Augusta Trapp.

Get your tickets now before nights get sold out since casts alternate. Tickets cost $15 for adults, $12 for senior citizens and $10 for students ($12 at the door).
