(UPDATED) Schools Canceling Activities as Snow Falls

Our Lady of Lake School dismissed early and Wayzata Public Schools cancelled all after school activities.

Snow moved into the Plymouth area around noon today and is going to create a bit of havoc tonight on local roads, and with local calendars.

Updated below. Westonka Schools made the announcement shortly after noon Thursday, April 18, that students will be sent home early.

Per Twitter, the district released these dismissal times:

Due to the weather, school will be dismissed early today. Grandview - 12:45, MWHS - 12:55, Shirley Hills and Hilltop -1:50.

Roads were slushy this afternoon and slippery in spots, particularly on bridges and overpasses.

Nothing like having our Tornado Drill trumped by an early school dismissal due to SNOW!!!!

Update (2:50 p.m.): Wayzata Public Schools announced:

Today's After School Activities Information (April 18. 2013)
Due to weather conditions, all elementary and middle school after school activities and late buses are cancelled for today, Thursday, April 18. However, all Wayzata High School after school activities and buses are running on a normal schedule. Thank you for your attention.

A message from MINNETONKA SCHOOL DISTRICT 276

Due to poor weather conditions, the Minnetonka School District is cancelling all after-school activities on Thursday, April 18. This includes:

  • All elementary, middle and high school sports and activities (including practices)
  • All community education classes
  • Explorers Club will remain open until parents or guardians have picked up their children.

District officials will continue to monitor the weather this evening and will communicate any changes to the school schedule early Friday morning.
