According to the Wayzata School District's website, the high school will host the fourth annual International Festival 6-9 p.m. Friday, March 23, in the Culinary Express area.

Last year’s event drew a crowd of more than 500 participants visiting the 28 countries represented. Staff, students and parents create booths to represent their different countries of origin, dressed in traditional ethnic clothing and provide food samples. This year, 30 to 35 countries are planned to be represented at the free event.

Event organizer and WHS ELL teacher Fauzia Siddiqui said students and staff that attended last year couldn’t believe that so much diversity exists in the high school.

“The event was a huge success because it highlighted the fact that we all have more similarities than differences,” Siddiqui said.

The International Festival event is an opportunity to learn about world cultures, enjoy ethnic food, participate in different cultural activities, shop at a bazaar and enjoy music and dancing from different countries. The public is invited to attend dressed in attire representing their own cultural heritage.
