West Lutheran Freshman Bond at Team Building Event

West Lutheran High School freshmen participate in team building event.

Every year, West Lutheran High School freshman students spend an afternoon at YMCA Camp Ihduhapi in Loretto. This event takes place the second week of school and is meant to encourage interaction and camaraderie with classmates.  Freshman students participate in team-building activities led by YMCA camp counselors.

The weather was perfect for this year's event Sept. 6. After a morning of EXPLORE educational assessment testing, the students were ready to enjoy a day outdoors with their classmates.

During the team building activities, the camp staff provided ways for all of the student to be involved and to build trust in each other. The freshman were attentive and supportive of their peers especially new international student, Carlos.

Students worked together to balance on a wooden “bridge”, played amoeba tag, as well as other games while getting to know each other a little better. Faculty and staff agree that this creates a stronger bond within the class and those faculty who attend get to see another side of their students.
