West Lutheran H.S. Goes "Back to the 50's" with Auction Fundraiser

At it's annual auction fundraiser, West Lutheran raised over $20,000 for tuition assistance and classroom improvements.

On Saturday, October 13, students, families and friends stepped "Back to the 50's" at the 2012 West Lutheran High School Auction Fundraiser. West Lutheran was turned into a 50's diner with fabulous decorations and many of the guests dressed in vintage attire.

While snacking on hearty hor d'oeuvres from Red's Cafe, the attendees bid on nearly 250 silent auction items including retail gift cards, photography packages, hand crafted items, collectibles, sporting goods, baked items and student homeroom baskets. Once the silent auctions closed, the fast and furious bidding started with the live auction with items ranging from a quarter of beef to popular teacher donations such as Mr. Bain's delivered Caribou Coffee. Bidders also had an opportunity to donate to special fund to upgrade classrooms with new paint and carpeting, purchase new cafeteria tables and improve wi-fi capabiities.

The evening ended with a new addition to the event - Heads and Tails game. With a flip of a coin, participants were eliminated in a contest to win a wine basket and "thank you" dinner.  Over $20,000 was raised to support West Lutheran High School.
