Hollydale Transmission Line Bill Passes Committee

Yesterday, my bill related to the proposed Hollydale power line received its first hearing in the Energy and Environment committee.

Over the summer, I had the pleasure of walking our neighborhoods and speaking one on one with many of you. During our discussions, I became increasingly concerned with a proposal to build a new transmission line in the Hollydale area of Plymouth.

Since first hearing about this issue, I have met with officials from Xcel Energy, the City of Plymouth, and the Public Utilities Commission. Because our community has taken an active role in voicing concerns surrounding this proposal, the construction of the line has been slowed to a degree. However, the possibility of an 115k power line running through our backyards still looms.

For this reason, I made it a priority to introduce some sort of bill that would address this issue. The bill I ended up introducing earlier this month states that for this proposed line only, if there is a distribution alternative that meets the identified need, that alternative must be used instead of a transmission alternative.

Yesterday, the bill received its first hearing in the Energy and Environment committee. I was so proud to see many members of our community in attendance to show their support for this bill. In the end, the proposal passed the committee and will now go the Senate floor. Thank you for staying engaged in this and keeping me apprised of what is happening. Together, we can make a difference.
