Wayzata Trojans Baseball Defeated Edina June 4

Your Wayzata Trojans defeated the Edina Hornets twice on Tuesday, June 4, at the Metrodome to advance to the 2013 Minnesota State High School Baseball Tournament. The 2013 Trojans rode good pitching, solid defense, and timely hitting to return to the State Tournament for the first time in 24 years (1989). Ryan Walstad, Jack Sorensen, and Will Beeninga all picked up pitching victories as the Trojans went 5-1 in the Section 6 AAA playoffs. Wayzata defeated Richfield 7-6, Hopkins twice, 4-1 and 2-1, and, after losing to Edina 4-0 on Saturday, came back to beat the Hornets twice on Tuesday, 6-5 and 4-2. The Wayzata nine enters the State Tournament with a 15-6 overall record and begins State Tournament action next Thursday, June 13.
