Plymouth Woman Is Finalist in 'Next Fitness Star' Competition

Stacie Clark is the only mother who is also a finalist for the national contest run by Women's Health magazine.

Mother of two, Stacie Clark of Plymouth, has been an athlete all her life. She traded in her position as a fashion director to follow her passion for athletics, fitness and health full time with her husband Chris.

And now Clark is one of five finalists from across the nation who could become the "Next Fitness Star" named by Women's Health magazine.

In January, the magazine set out on a nationwide talent search to find “The Next Fitness Star.”  After receiving thousands of submissions, the competition has been narrowed down to five finalists who will be featured on the flip cover of the July/August issue of Women’s Health magazine. The magazine is asking America to weigh in and choose the winner with the help of an elite judging panel.

Clark is a certified athletic trainer with more than 15 years experience in fitness and athletic development from youth to adult. She focuses on individual and group training encompassing all the fundamentals of functional bodyweight training and athleticism: agility, balance, coordination, strength, speed, stamina, power and flexibility.

Clark said she believes everyone is an athlete, and athletes must earn the right to be fit through real life experiences. She has earned a solid reputation of knowing what it takes to work towards a goal and succeeding. Also known for her stylish, fashion-forward approach, Clark believes in and embodies performance, style and function in everything she does and wears.

Clark continues to train and compete in adventure races, cross-fit challenges, as well as 5K, 10K, 1/2 marathons, urbanathlons, and she doesn't plan to stop there. To her, it's a lifestyle, not a job. Her work is her play and her play is her work.

"Another catch?  I'm the only mom," Clark said. "I want to promote this because this is my chance to influence other moms and families of all generations. This is my life 24/7; it's not just a contest or a job. For me, winning will give me the platform to have the voice to influence and inspire others to get fit, be fit and stay fit."

Voting begins Wednesday, June 19, on WomensHealthMag.com.  The search will culminate with a reveal on NBC’s Today Show in August when the "Next Fitness Star" winner will be announced.
