Water Safety Project Partners Plymouth, County, Schools

Plymouth Fire Department, Wayzata Schools, Crowne Plaza and Hennepin County partner for a water safety project.

Taking on a new tagline, Think -- Don’t Sink, the Hennepin County Water Safety Task Force, is working to bring multi language water safety DVDs and placards to apartment communities and pools across the county.

Learning about the project, Michael Serr, general manager at the Minneapolis West Hotel, and Kristin Tollison, assistant director of community education of the , welcomed the chance to post the multi language placards on their pool decks. They will be the first hotel and school district in the State of Minnesota to do so.

“It’s been a deadly two years in Minnesota," said Michael Serr. "Crowne Plaza is committed to keep our clients safe. Posting this placard is a simple way to do so.”

The vibrant 57 inch by 30 inch plastic placard, created by the Plymouth Fire Department, features nine life-saving water safety tips translated into Spanish, Hmong, Somali, Russian and English. 

“We value their partnership in helping to keep our English and non-English speaking communities safe around water,” said Sara Lynn Cwayna with the Plymouth Fire Department.
