TODAY: Fundraiser, Blood Donation Drive

Plymouth Station store's Tuesday cookout fundraisers includes a blood drive today.

For years, the has hosted Tuesday afternoon cookouts. What many people might not know is that they donate the proceeds from these sales to local service and nonprofit organizations.

Memorial Blood Centers (MBC) will join Holiday Stationstore’s Tuesday cookout, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. today, July 17. A Bloodmobile will be set up to take blood donations onsite. If their call load permits, you might even get the chance to meet a North Memorial Paramedic and tour their ambulance.

“We hope that the community will stop out to support the Blood Center. Due to the extensive flooding in northern Minnesota Memorial Blood Centers temporarily closed three donor centers and cancelled community blood drives," said Blood Center Donor Recruiter Ann Evans. "They are asking for your help to make up for donations lost during the flood. Stop by and have a great lunch for under $5."

This is a wonderful program, she said.

"Everyone has fun, the food is great and the community has the chance to give the gift of life. We are grateful for the participation of the community and Holiday Stationstores in replenishing the blood supply,” Evans said.  “And, because Memorial Blood Centers in the primary supplier of blood to North Memorial Medical Center, your donation at the Holiday Stationstore helps support patients in our community.”
