Volunteer of the Week: Journey Klugman

Age is a state of mind for Plymouth resident and volunteer Journey Klugman.

Journey Klugman, 70, of Plymouth is having the time of her life. "I'm happily single and loving retirement,” Klugman said. Klugman retired three years ago, but it was years earlier in her life, at age 55 when she was told a Native American tradition allows girls to choose a new name when they turn 14. Having never been comfortable in her given name, she chose Journey, "because life is a journey, and I’m loving it,” Klugman said. A 30-year resident of Plymouth, Klugman’s community work runs the gamut. She worked at McDonald’s for six years as a hostess, a role that has since been eliminated. And said she loved pushing the coffee cart and visiting with seniors, giving tours and running birthday parties. From there she spent 10 years at …

New trails were put in, a second stage was added and a new fountain sits inside the park. Other subtle adjustments were made as well, including improved electrical and irrigation work and a new cement pad for vendors to use during busy events. “The changes made to the Hilde Performance Center have been really well received,” Plymouth Park and Recreation Director Diane Evans said. “It’s always been a…
