New Church Resides Inside Plymouth's Mann Movie Theater

A new church is opening up Sunday, Sept. 15, in Plymouth and its location is as unique as its ministry.

Relevant Church is a start-up place of worship that will be located in the Mann Movie Theater off Vicksburg Lane and Highway 55 in Plymouth. That's right, church at the movies!

It is lead by Pastor Justin Petrali, 34, of Plymouth. Petrali moved to Plymouth in July from Sartell, Minn. with his family that includes wife Tara and sons Eli, 2, and Liam, 10 months. The family moved to Minnesota from Texas.

"We chose to have church at the Mann Theater because we thought it would be so cool to do church in a movie theater," said Tara. "We have stadium seating with cup holders for people to place their coffee in while we have service. You also have the big screen, which we use to display our worship words and videos we play throughout the service."

The Petralis hope to one day outgrow the movie theater location for Relevant Church, she said. 

"But we love working with the team there at Mann Theater," Tara said. "They have been so great to work with."

You can't beat the great location of the theater, she said.  

Petrali describes the church as "young and vibrant."

"We wanted to start a church that helps people where they are at in life no matter where that is," Petrali said. "We have a tremendous passion to help young families, which is why we have a full worship band, a casual atmosphere, free coffee and donuts along with a service just for [grades] K-5."

The children's ministry is "a fun, high energy place where kids can come, have fun, and learn," Tara said.  Relevant Church has a fully staffed nursery and preschool program accommodating children of all ages.

The new church has no strict dress code, she said.  

"Our messages are dynamic and relevant to your life," Petrali said. "Our goal is for you to take home and remember one life application step in growing in your relationship with the Lord each week."

Services start at 9:30 a.m. and will last one hour. The couple has no idea what the first day will bring, but are excited to see it unfold.

For the grand opening day Sept. 15, there will be free pastries, donuts, coffee and a free T-shirt including some giveaways for kids.
