VIDEO: Car Caught on Fire on Rockford Road in Plymouth

This afternoon around 2:30 p.m. a pick up truck caught on fire while in the left-hand turn lane of Rockford Road and Nathan Lane off Highway 169 in Plymouth.

Plymouth Fire Chief Rick Kline said there was no one injured and no fatalities in the car fire.

"The driver was able to vacate the vehicle safely," Kline said. "Our people were there and within two minutes extinguished the fire."

The vehicle is a total loss, he said.

Traffic was backed up going west on Rockford Road on the Hwy 169 overpass as crews cleaned up the site. 

Kline couldn't comment on the origin or cause of the car fire. He said that the department doesn't provide any further details on such fire incidents.
